DIRECTOR

Maura is a director committed to telling emotionally honest, character-driven stories that shed light on deeply personal and often unspoken experiences. With a strong foundation in working closely with actors, she approaches each project with sensitivity and a desire to uncover raw, vulnerable performances. Her work often centers around themes of isolation, trauma, and identity—creating space for complex emotional truths to be explored on screen.

Her latest short film, Disoriented, recently completed a successful festival run. The film examines how individuals cope with grief while masking their pain behind social facades, offering a quiet but powerful reflection on the disconnect between internal suffering and outward appearances.

Currently in post-production, her upcoming film Treading follows a young woman navigating the overwhelming solitude of city life, capturing the quiet ache of feeling alone in a crowd. Her earlier short, Playtime, is an award-winning piece that boldly confronts the realities of date rape culture, challenging viewers to reckon with the societal norms and silences that enable it.

In addition to her film work, Maura has also dabbled in theatre. She recently directed a staged reading of Everything I Do, I Do for Taylor Swift, an upcoming production on the rise produced by Kitchen Sink Theatre Company. Set in 2013, the play follows 13-year-old Claire as she navigates a new school, the highs and lows of female friendship, and the fervent world of Taylor Swift fandom. A darkly funny exploration of belonging, misogyny, and devotion, the piece reflects Maura’s continued interest in the emotional complexities of coming of age and identity formation.

Through all her work, Maura strives to give voice to the often unheard and unseen, crafting stories that resonate on a deeply human level
